My First Blog

After many years of thinking about doing this, I have finally started setting up my own website. I immediately realized why I hadn’t done this before. Even though WordPress is the de facto standard for blog sites and has a large community behind it, it’s completely impenetrable for the newbie. In other areas of life, I’m very technical, but as I start to peruse the seemingly limitless options, I realize how little I care to learn the inner workings of this platform. I just want a site that looks nice, allows me to easily post text, images and video and can automate cross-posting to other social media sites like Twitter and LinkedIn. Fortunately, I’m not just starting out anymore, so I have more money than time. Next stop: finding someone who knows how to do this and can walk me through it.

How WordPress feels to me, 40 minutes after my first login.
